Day 5
Back on the road today, travelling to Greenville, NC to visit our dear friends Pam & Paul. We left the campground around 8:30 AM, and bought coffee and a sweet rolls at “Station on Kings”, a funky bakery/garden center.
Our route for this leg of our trip took us across the 17.6 mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. There was a time when such a bridge would have terrified me, but fortunately my fear of bridges is gone.
We stopped for lunch in Norfolk at a downtown bar called Grain which is on the 5th floor of the Hilton. The bar has a terrace which overlooks part of the Norfolk harbor. It was too windy to sit outside, but we still had great views of the waterfront. The food was very good too.
Leaving Norfolk around 2 pm, we continued for another two hours, arriving at Paul and Pam's in the late afternoon. We had not seen them since late December so it was great to catch up with them, and their son Andy, who joined us for dinner. Paul and Pam made a delicious, blog photo worthy dinner, chicken with orzo, and capped it off with fresh strawberries from their backyard and ice cream.

You're fortunate to have Joni modeling on your trip. She looks great ! Congratulations on conquering your fear of bridges. How di you do that ?
ReplyDeleteDiscovering that my sister was also afraid of bridges, I simply said to myself, "I'm better than she is", and stopped freaking out
